College – RBL Centre

The Resource Based Learning Centre is an IT facility designed to cater for all learners with varying needs and abilities.

We have nearly 200 machines spanning across our 3 sites; the Main Site Broadway, and two smaller centres at Mons Hill and Castle View libraries. So you should be able to gain access to a computer whenever you need one.

Why not come in and have a chat about your specific needs?

If there is a particular piece of equipment or software that you need to use within any of our centres, please approach the staff and we can discuss a solution with you.

Our friendly staff are always on hand to give advice or assist with problems.

You will be able to use any of our three centres upon the production of your college ID card.

The RBL Shop offers a number of different items for sale at competitive prices to assist learners with their day to day college work, assignments etc.

You might require a new USB stick, paper to print off your assignments or you may be looking for a way to present your assignments. Maybe you want to listen to music whilst writing that 3000 word essay or want a picture printed out in colour ...

Please Note: Teaching Aids will endeavor to complete your requests as soon as possible, but there may be times when delays are experienced.

I.T. @ Mons Hill is a drop in centre located within the Library. You can use one of the 42 computers for FREE to access online resources, the Internet, scanners and printers to support your work at the college. Staff are also on hand should you need any assistance.

IT @ Castle View is a drop in centre located within the Library. You can use one of the 36 computers for FREE to access online resources, the Internet, scanners and printers to support your work at the college. Staff are also on hand should you need any assistance.

Do we need to join the RBL Centre?

No, you only need a valid student ID card to gain access to the RBL Centre, You should have your ID card with you at all times.

Can I use my mobile phone & electronic equipment, such as mp3 players etc?

Mobiles phones should be switched to silent when entering the centre. You may discreatly text, but no talking or ringing is permitted. MP3 players can be used if other learners are not disturbed by it.

Do I need a password to gain access to the machines?

Yes. You would have been given a username and password at enrolment to access the college computer system. If you are unsure about what these details are, or if you require your password to be reset, please visit reception to swipe your card through the Login.Point Machines or speak to the RBL Staff who can assist. Can I print my work?

Yes; we currently have eight HP Laser printers and a colour printing facility. Feel free to ask a member of staff for assistance and up to date prices.

Can I access electronic resources off site?

Web CT and Athens can both be accessed off site once your accounts have been set up at college.

What if I forget my password for one of the resources e.g. Web CT?

All passwords are now linked together. If you have forgotten your password, please visit reception to swipe your card through the Login.Point Machines or speak to the RBL Staff who can assist. For further information see here.

I need help completing my assignment, can you help?

We can offer assistance with IT problems, such as Microsoft Office or the Internet. 1 to 1 help is available elsewhere, such as The Hub. Please feel free to ask staff for any help or advice.
