so today was my first day and i well i think i have settled in quite nicely. I started by trying to get use to the systems that till now i didn’t know we had and proceeded later in the day to work on the plan for a black country student officer network.

My name is Ben Sweeney and I’ve been elected by you to be the student union president for Dudley College.  I am very grateful to all those who helped me (and voted for me!)

I stood for president because I wanted to make your education the best it can be for you, so remember you are always welcome to come into the office and tell me any ideas you have to improve the student experience.

I officially start on the 4th of January but in the run up I’ve been forming my plans into something I can do in my term as president. I’ve been reading up on the terms and conditions and registering to go and meet other sabbaticals with NUS. I hope that as time goes on I’ll have more exciting things to tell you but till then I hope you all enjoyed your holiday.

Benjamin Sweeney will take office in January 2010.  As part of this role he will also be a Student Governor.  This is a 6 month post.

1. Decide what club you want to set up; i.e., book club, debating society, singing…
2. Find other students who would like to join, at least 5…we can help you to advertise your club if you are struggling to find people
3. Contact the Students’ Union at studentunion@dudleycol.ac.uk and arrange a meeting. 
 
We will then help you to complete a quick club/society approval form and send it to the Exec team to pass.
