Your UnionYour Exec Team

PRESIDENT

KIM HUGHES

The President holds a sabattical post, which means that they are employed on a one year basis to work 37 hours for the Students’ Union. Often the President will have finished their studies and stays on for a year in their elected role, although occassionally they may take a gap year out of studies. The President is allowed to stand for a maximum of 2 terms of office which should last no longer than one year each.

Hi there, I’m Kim your elected Students’ Union President above is a bit about the job. Anyway as you probably know im the sabbatical president and this means that my role is to be the lead representative of the Students’ Union and to also coordinate the work of the students union across all of the College’s campuses

What I am intending to do:

•Bring the Union back to you: I will do this by increasing our communication with you the students so that we are able to keep you up to date with what going on with us and other events, just to make sure that you won’t miss a thing ^^. Also to make it easier for you to get into contact with us to voice any concerns, issues or just queries we always looking for feedback from students or just to hear you opinion.

•Give you a national voice: I will do this by attending all national and regional conference/ training to make sure that the interests of the students at Dudley College are voiced and represented, to achieve the best possible result for you the students.

•Continue to develop the class rep system: I will raise the awareness of the class rep system to tutors and students along with incorporating it into all class. I will also support the class reps in their role by making sure that they are aware of the training that is available for them.

•Represent you more effectively: I will make sure that the exec team are better trained so that they will be able to represent you more effectively. Such as receiving information about how a conference is conducted and the terms used, so that as soon as they get to a conference they will be able to jump right in and represent you from start to finish.

•Support students: I will not only support the fulltime students of Dudley College but the other different types of students that are attending the college. For example the evening, part time, HND and HNC will receive the same support and service that is offered to the full time students. This is so that all students are treated fairly and will all receive the best service the union can give them.

If you would like to see something I help organise just come and check out the 2011 fresher’s fair, enjoy yourselves at our college because the student union is here for you and I’m here to keep you entertained.

I started off pretty much by co-founding “Anime society” and I still help out with the club, and other clubs and societies that are available at our college currently. However if you haven’t found something that keeps you going and is entertaining, and you think that other people may like the topic that you are interested in don’t worry because i can help you start up your own group and society so then all students can join in the fun.
